Prof Allan Leslie Combs – Jean Gebser and Owen Barfield in a Nutshell

Is the evolution of consciousness the key to our future?

In this webinar, Professor Combs will discuss these two 20th century theorists of the evolution of consciousness. The first is best known for his “structures of consciousness”—archaic, magic, mythical, mental, and integral—articulated in psychological terms by the writings of Ken Wilber. Owen Barfield, a member of the Oxford Inklings, is less well-known outside England. Both Barfield and Gebser, however, were poet philosophers who built much of their work on analyses of words and language. Their ideas have much in common. Nevertheless, they don’t seem to have known of each other.
