Dr Steve Taylor – Stepping out of the River of Time: Time Expansion and Time Cessation Experiences

Why does time sometimes slow down radically in accidents and falls?

Perhaps you’ve experienced a radical slowing of time during meditation, under the influence of psychedelics, while playing sport, or during a near-death experience.  Dr. Steve Taylor has spent many years collecting and analysing reports of such ‘time expansion’ and ‘time cessation’ experiences. In this webinar – based on his new book Time Expansion Experiences: The Psychology of Time Perception and the Illusion of Linear Time – Steve will explain how and why such experiences arise in altered states of consciousness, and what they may tell us about the nature of human consciousness, and of reality itself. He will also discuss whether it’s possible to induce time expansion consciously.

“This fascinating book brings together years of research and expertise, throwing brilliant new light on the mystery of time. Highly recommended read for those interested in unusual states of consciousness such as Near-Death Experiences and psychedelics.”
-Pim van Lommel, cardiologist, NDE-researcher, author of Consciousness beyond Life

“A mind-expanding and deeply researched exploration of those moments when time slows down or stands still, and the tantalizing implications they might have for the nature of reality. As I read TIME EXPANSION EXPERIENCES, I could feel myself becoming attuned to the timelessness beneath the surface busyness of life.”
– Oliver Burkeman, author of Four Thousand Weeks

“Steve Taylor’s Time Expansion Experiences is a meticulously researched exploration of the common but poorly understood experience of time seeming to expand in extreme circumstances. Taylor explores what these experiences mean not just for the neuropsychology of our perception of time, but for the very nature of time itself and for the physics of the universe. Few books this easy to read will blow your mind as this one does.”

– Bruce Greyson, M.D
