Dr Emiliano Toso – Biology is Music: Understanding the Beauty of our Cells as a Symphony of Life

How do our cells create a symphony of life?

We are a community of 50 trillion living organisms: our cells. Each cell is a beautiful micro-representation on a human body. As a researcher I studied for 20 years in an analytical way what makes our cells and our body but I forgot to consider some important ingredients like emotions, movement and life flow. With music I found a way of integrating science and medicine, while taking care of our body in a holistic way. In this session we’ll take a journey inside our cells and we’ll experience live music played on a Steinway coda piano tuned at 432 Hz.

About the speaker:

Cell biologist Emiliano Toso, PhD has in the course of his career been the director of international research laboratories. Since 2013 he has integrated science with his passion for music by creating the Translational Music Project, a sea of cells under a sky of music, and recognised by important researchers such as Dr Bruce Lipton, Dr Gregg Braden, Prof Daniela Lucangeli, Prof Carlo Ventura and Dr Franco Berrino. He is often invited as a speaker and composer-musician to international events that combine science, art and spirituality. His compositions are used in healthcare, educational, welfare and wellness settings all over the world. He was the first musician to play a grand piano tuned to 432 Hz in a surgery room during a delicate oncological operation on a 10-year-old boy.
