Words of Common Sense for Mind, Body and Soul

Another beautiful and insightful book from Templeton Press. David Steindl-Rast is better known in the USA than Europe and conducted a series of dialogues with Fritjof Capra a decade ago. Here he has chapters on the common sense sayings of Jesus as well as an illuminating one on proverbs and common sense where he shows how different images express the same truth: 'Every family has a skeleton in the closet' (New York), 'every house have him dirty corner' (West Indies), 'every cabin has its mosquito' (US) and 'every hill has its leopard' (East Africa). Steindl-Rast's own wisdom is also evident in such phrases as 'we tend to confuse the truth that we are different with the illusion of being separate' and 'what gets in the way of simplicity is not sophistication but self-importance'.
