Without You There
The Zen of Unity
This is a book about the Zen of unity, beginning with the insight that we are already in the place that we are seeking to journey towards: 'the dismantling of a way of thinking to reveal what is already here, there, everywhere and nowhere.' Life itself is unified, but our perceptions or not. In unity, 'there is no separation from insight, they are one and the same.' The book tries to move perception into a new mode. The author admits addiction to both coffee and silence, and warns of the dangers of addiction to oneself and projecting solutions onto God. God is not a concept, but rather all there is and more especially love. So the question is how we live in unity rather than separation. This is a matter of surrender to the unknown rather than getting ready for the next thing. There are about 50 short chapters and the tone is mischievous and teasing as well as illuminating.
