The War on Ivermectin

This widely endorsed book is provocatively but accurately subtitled ‘the medicine that saved millions and could have ended the pandemic’, and it documents one of the greatest ever public health scandals where the drive for pharmaceutical profits overrode concern for public health. Structurally and legally, ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, Vitamins C and D had to be taken out of the equation if Emergency Use Authorisation was to be granted to the new mRNA vaccines. This can only be enacted if there are no effective treatments; a further factor, highlighted by Bret Weinstein, is the introduction of the mRNA vaccine platform more generally as it promises much shorter timelines for the introduction of new vaccines. The shortness of the trial period does not enable longer-term effects to emerge, and Weinstein identifies the basic problem as the instruction given to the body to manufacture – in the case of Covid-19 – the very spike protein known to be toxic and that travels around the body to different organs.

Along with a small band of other physicians of integrity such as Dr Peter McCullough, Dr Tess Lawrie, Dr Aseem Malholtra, Dr Byram Bridle, Dr Robert Malone, Dr Ryan Cole, Dr Aaron Kheriaty, Dr Simone Gold, Dr James Thorp and Dr Paul Marik, Dr Kory ‘sacrificed career, reputation, friendships, status, and livelihood for the health of his patience and humanity’ (RFK Jr) and tells ‘a tale of corruption, censorship, and criminal intent’ (Tess Lawrie) that exposes the systemic corruption of the entire Pharma-Industrial-Complex. The following quote from Dr Marcia Angell – a long-time editor in chief of the New England Journal of Medicine was written in 20 years ago and is even more pertinent today: ‘Now primarily a marketing machine to sell drugs of dubious benefit, big Pharma uses its wealth and power to co-opt every institution that might stand in its way, including the US Congress, the FDA, academic medical centres and the medical profession itself.’ She could also have mentioned the US media, where up to 70% of advertising revenue comes from Pharma; and in the last election, 72% of Senators and Congressmen received a cheque from Pharma. Senators Ron Johnson and Rand Paul are among the few to call this out, and Johnson to his credit has conducted a number of high-profile Senate hearings.

As explained in this personal narrative and clinical exposition, there are in fact over 95 studies, including some random controlled trials, that conclusively demonstrate the efficacy of ivermectin. In addition, many clinicians successfully used it in their own protocols to prevent up to 85% of hospitalisations and deaths. Ironically, associations of hands-on clinicians such as American Frontline Doctors and FLCCC (Front Line Covid Critical Care Alliance) have been dismissed as right-wing groups irrespective of their professional experience and expertise, and it is indicative that Wikipedia describes FLCCC as having ‘advocated for various unapproved, dubious, and ineffective treatments for COVID-19.’ This is scurrilous propaganda relentlessly pumped out by mainstream media using trademark weasel words.

Dr Mary Talley Bowden recently won a legal case against the FDA for prescribing ivermectin and was awarded substantial undisclosed damages, perhaps because she was able to reveal that the FDA had employed the PR firm Weber Shandwick to create the infamous horse dewormer campaign ‘C’mon y’all, you’re not a horse!’ For prescribing Ivermectin and dissenting against the dominant COVID narratives, Dr. Bowden was forced to resign from Houston Methodist Hospital. At a recent rally, she said of the government agency spokesmen [including Anthony Fauci]: How many COVID patients did they examine? How many histories did they take? How many prescriptions did they write? Zero. None of them have cared for a single COVID patient, but because they had the full support of Big Pharma, the government, and, most importantly, the media, they became the scientific authority on a novel disease they had zero first-hand experience in treating.’ Commenting on her fight with the government, she noted: ‘This was a war on Ivermectin. But it was also a war on the doctor-patient relationship.’

Kory discusses in detail the main players involved in creating a fraud narrative, including poorly designed trials published in the top journals with results trumpeted around the world, the role of what he calls the editorial mafia, and the systematic journal delays, retractions and rejections of positive ivermectin studies. Although the FDA has under the legal pressure recently removed its reference to ivermectin as a horse dewormer, their position on this Nobel prize-winning anti-viral drug remains hostile. Ironically, Dr Anthony Fauci himself inadvertently described the optimal product profile for a Covid therapeutic, which Kory notes actually describes ivermectin (!): ‘an orally administered, single pill, given for 7 to 10 days, with little drug-drug interaction, and low toxicity; give me that and I’ll be really happy.’ (p. 210)

Kory explains the five primary disinformation tactics deployed by the industry when science emerges that is inconvenient to their interests: the fake, the fix, the blitz, the diversion, and the screen. He himself was subject to the full range of weapons, and remarked in a recent interview that ’Ivermectin science was extremely inconvenient to the interests of the pharmaceutical industrial complex. I mean, it threatened the vaccine campaign. It threatened vaccine hesitancy, which was public enemy number one. We know, that everything, all the propaganda censorship was literally going after something called vaccine hesitancy.’ As a cheap and repurposed medicine, ivermectin also threatened the hugely expensive other Big Pharma hospital approved products like remdesivir, molnupiaravir and paxlovid. The scandalous net result on public health was that millions of lives were needlessly lost ‘as a result of wilful and concerted actions’ while frontline physicians who were successfully treating their patients were publicly attacked and vilified, with many losing their positions for not conforming to the narrative. They were casualties in a vicious information war – only if the truth is fully told will they be fully vindicated.

The case involving Uttar Pradesh in India makes the point on the population level. The state has a population of 231 million people, and its chief minister Yogi Adityanath used first hydroxychloroquine then ivermectin in its state protocol for both prevention and treatment. It produced an abrupt fall in cases within two weeks. According to Johns Hopkins figures, UP had 33,531 cases on April 26, 2021 dropping to 18,023 by May 12 and to under 600 a day by May 30, 2021 The Indian newspapers reported this success without mentioning ivermectin, highlighting instead the putative effect of the vaccine (under 6% vaccinated). By September 10, there were only 199 active cases, with 11 new positive cases out of 226,000 tests. Other states like Kerala who rejected ivermectin where reported a 20% rate of positive cases at the same time. The book will be especially eye-opening for readers who have only been exposed to mainstream dismissals of the efficacy of ivermectin, and it shines a bright spotlight on skullduggery perpetrated on the medical profession and the public by a systemically corrupt system that put money before health and it is still trying to obfuscate on the reasons for sudden cardiac deaths is healthy athletes and continuing excess mortality by putting a blind eye to the telescope like Nelson at the Battle of Copenhagen. One can only hope that the courage, truth and integrity displayed by such heroic and selfless physicians as Pierre Kory and Paul Marik will win out in the end.
