The Secret Teachings of Mary Magdalene

An esoteric and speculative book that claims to re-evaluate the significance of Mary Magdalene. It contains quite a lot of background material and comments on the roles of various New Testament figures. The authors' central contention is that Mary Magdalene is the feminine manifestation of Christ impulse. The most interesting part of the book is the reconstruction of the Gospel of Mary, parts of which are missing and which the authors claim to reveal by inspiration for the first time. The content is certainly uplifting, and the commentary interesting, but of course there is no way of proving that this is a genuine communication. Among the inserted sentences are the following: 'the eye of the vision is within the soul. Let those who have vision see. Those that would listen, let them hear. For those that listen will hear the breath of Silence.' Readers will have to arrive at their own judgement.
