Science Philosophy of Science
The Scientific Outlook
A new edition of this widely read work with an illuminating preface by David Papineau, who puts Russell's reflections into a modern context - for instance mentioning David Bohm's alternative interpretation of quantum mechanics and commenting on Russell's philosophy of mind and his views on free will. The book itself - of which I have a first edition - is divided into three sections: scientific knowledge, scientific technique and the scientific society. It is aimed at the general reader and sparkles with Russell's customary wit and insight.
