A really useful and comprehensive volume on key issues surrounding higher education and which reflects many recent changes in the field such as the effect of pressures of assessment in undergraduate courses, the validity of student evaluation of teaching and performance-based funding. The collection contains an essay by Member Angela Brew analysing widely differing conceptions of research. Each paper is put in context by the editor, which helps the reader situate it within the larger field.
