The Paranormal in the Bible and In Old Norse Literature

This is a most unusual book, as the title suggests. After a background on the nature of superstition and a briefing on Old Norse Literature, the author plunges into sorcery before his extensive examination of psi in Old Norse Literature and the Bible. The author is well versed in the field, and is therefore able to identify and discuss instances of clairvoyance, telepathy and the like. The next section considers Old Norse and shamanism, and contains some fascinating material. NDEs, reincarnation and the afterlife come next, followed by supernatural beings. The author's training in philosophy is evident in his conclusions, when he weighs up 20 conclusions from his study. Responding to his own question: has it been proved that psi exists, he states (correctly I think) that its existence has been proved beyond reasonable doubt, but not beyond all doubt. The overall treatment is sanguine but entirely fair. This must be one of the most original books written in recent years, and will be of great interest both to parapsychologists and anthropologists of consciousness.
