The Alzheimer's Prevention Plan
10 proven ways to stop memory decline and reduce the risk of Alzheimer's
This is a well-researched book that deserves a wide readership and contains a foreword by Professor David Smith, who led a research team on Alzheimers at Oxford in the 1990s. Smith urges us to realise that Alzheimer's is a preventable disease, not an inevitable part of ageing. The risk factors are multiple and genetic predisposition does not operate in a deterministic fashion. Lifestyle factors are critical, and this book contains much sound advice on how to minimise one's risk of contracting dementia. We can work on keeping ourselves mentally and physically fit. There are succinct summaries at the end of each chapter and an appendix of case histories showing that nutritional interventions can reverse many of the effects of dementia.
