Temenos Academy Review 9
The arrival of the 2006 Temenos Academy Review heralds a feast for the soul and the imagination. This year's edition is no exception, with its rich mixture of poetry, essays and reviews. There is a notable speech by the Prince of Wales on the nature of religion, a plea for harmony to replace what he calls the fanatical literal shell that can be used to isolate and attack others. He advocates that our modern technological world must now become more humane, harmonious and integrated by applying the best of timeless wisdom along with the most appropriate of modern advancements. Thetis Blacker's Kathleen Raine Memorial lecture on a web of friendship is wonderfully evocative of people and art. Joseph Milne writes about reality in appearance, while Jeremy Naydler expounds Plato, Shamanism and ancient Egypt. Then there are poems by Wendell Berry and others.
