Synthesis in Healing

This is a clearly written, informative book on the subtle energies and natural therapies for optimal health. The book is divided into two parts. The first deals with the outer and inner causes of disease, the range of therapies used by the author for physical problems, the chakra system, the soul and the meaning of life and the relationship between vitality and toxins. Each chapter has a summary of the main points discussed in the text. The main focus in healing is to align our inner essence or soul so that healing energy can flow through to the physical body. The second part is a description of each chakra with its problems and how she uses subtle healing practices to balance their energies. There is a large number of case studies where she describes how she uses nutrition, vitamins, minerals, herbs and homeopathy, together with esoteric healing with generally successful outcomes. Each chapter ends with a section on a healing practice for that chakra and its associated organs. Jacka finds that inner healing is usually needed to 'kick start' the physical remedies. Appendix 1 contains a summary of the healing practices. The value of meditation for the practitioner and the client is emphasised. Appendix 2 is an introduction to meditation and the need for quiet reflection and contemplation. Appendix 3 contains nutritional suggestions for a good diet. This is a comprehensive synthesis of current approaches to healing. It is to be regretted that the author has not explored the benefits of Polarity Therapy and Craniosacral Therapy which are both based on the chakra system and use the clients own innate healing potency to bring about resolution of their problems.
