Swedenborg's Dream Diary
Readers may be familiar with the life and work of the scientist and mystic Emanuel Swedenborg. His diary of the years 1743-1744 was published posthumously and sheds light on the existential crisis that shifted his focus from science to mysticism. Lars Bergquist, a former Swedish ambassador, has written a fascinating introduction, which is followed by the text accompanied by an insightful commentary. Previous editions of this work have been somewhat impenetrable, but this new edition opens it up to a new readership. Psychologists with an interest in dreams will find it intriguing.
