Introduced and edited by Member Guy Lyon Playfair, this book presents three major case histories by the Brazilian parapsychologist relating to a poltergeist and two cases of reincarnation, both of which contain fascinating details that are hard to explain on any other basis. The final chapter puts forward a theory of psi matter, proposing an extra-material principle necessary in the process of forming living substance, bringing order out of chaos. This represents a biological organising model intertwining what the author calls psi-molecules with organic ones in the process of field attraction. We need some form of hypothesis to explain the data established by Ian Stevenson when it appears that birthmarks can correspond with wounds on the body of the previous personality. This suggests both psychological and physical heredity.
