Rhythms of the Week

And Other Explorations of Time

An exploration of time and other rhythms of life, especially that of the week, which the author interprets as reflecting different moods. The book contains a few striking maxims, for instance this one from Goethe: 'the person who acts is always without conscience. A conscience is possessed only by those who observe.' Apart from the rhythm of the day, there is also the rhythm of the heart and the cycle of the seasons -- this book can help us get back in touch with these rhythms.
