Resurrection: Theological and Scientific Assessments

A fascinating collection of essays that consider resurrection from a scientific and a theological point of view but that fails to engage with any of the evidence that mind may transcend brain and that human beings may have bodies that are not strictly physical. In so far as modern science is an expression of physicalism , death is the end so science can have nothing to say about resurrection. This means falling back on the promises of God exemplified in Christ. The nearest any contributor gets is Peter Lampe discussing the nature of Paul's 'spiritual body' but he does not connect this with any modern phenomena. There is a general recognition of the necessity for continuity of memory and identity but this is addressed only at a theological rather than an empirical level. We need another book to plug the gaps left by this one, interesting though it is within its self-imposed limitations.
