Breathing exercise for physical, psychical and spiritual health
by Michael Perry ✦ Review by David Lorimer, April 2003
Canon Michael Perry is one of the sanest and most experienced writers on the relationship between the psychical and the spiritual. He has edited 'The Christian Parapsychologist' for 25 years and is the current President of the Churches' Fellowship for Psychical and Spiritual Studies. His original training was in science and here he starts by telling the story of his initial interest and its development against the wider picture of scientific developments of the last 50 years. He discusses the weight of evidence for various parapsychological phenomena with his customary wit and insight, then moves on to a consideration of psychic and visionary events in the Bible. The chapter on our post-mortem prospects is an excellent and measured evaluation, and is seemlessly woven into his own Christian faith that takes him beyond the ambiguities of the evidence for survival. This is the best short introduction to the field and deserves a wide readership.
