Love Outpouring

This eloquent book describes itself as ‘a gracious invitation from yourSelf to yourSelf to expose the ever-present happiness that is already inherent within You, so that you may experience-directly again the perplexing-awe of life.’ It is this Self that can radiate love – light out to the world once we discover the difference between who we are and who we have mistaken ourselves to be. As readers will gather, this is a statement of non-duality with many inspirational quotes and practical exercises. The main sections explore self-understanding, self-knowledge, self-investigation and self-pointers. The greatest expression of love outpouring is ‘simply to BE yourSelf AS yourSelf’ – the rest is commentary and potentially distraction.

There are two more discursive chapters on Science, Philosophy and Self, and on Western Religion and Self. Here, there are reflections on David Bohm, Krishnamurti, Einstein, Schroedinger, Bernardo Kastrup, Donald Hoffman, Brother Lawrence and Meister Eckhart. These provide converging insights and an embedded context of unity in diversity, union in separation, and underlying Oneness. As David Bohm put it, ‘the East was right to see the immeasurable as the primary Reality.’ In the absence of the ego, there is no agency as commonly understood separate and distinct from the Totality. Meister Eckhart formulates his ultimate knowing as follows: ‘The eye through which I see God is the same eye through which God sees me: my eye and God’s eye are One eye, One seeing, One knowing, One love.’ To take on board the advice of this book, one should spend more time being than reading – a real paradox, because this is quite a long book!
