Love Has Forgotten No One

Gary Renard is among the best-known teachers taking as his point of departure A Course In Miracles, which many readers will no doubt be familiar. It is a dialogue with reflections with his nonphysical teachers, reminding readers at the beginning that spirituality has become confused with the self-help movement. As with a number of books reviewed in this publication, an underlying theme is the separation of the ego from the Source, and the implications of this perspective. In reality, we are told, no such separation has ever occurred, but it is difficult to be conscious of this as we mistake our own projections for genuine perceptions. We can change our experience by changing the way we look at people, thinking with what is referred to as the Holy Spirit rather than the ego. Lifetimes are regarded as dreams and time as in a sense holographic, so that everything has already happened and, intriguingly, free will consists of choosing the Holy Spirit's interpretation of events rather than that of the ego. As Ian Lawton points out in the book I have reviewed above, this is a hard nut to crack. Although there are many intriguing insights, I did not personally find the tone congenial, perhaps because I am not so steeped in A Course in Miracles, but the book does encourage readers to think out of the box.
