La Conscience Quantique et l'Au-Delà
This original and stimulating book is the update and sequel to the author's earlier La Nouvelle Physique de l'Esprit. Since he introduces a number of new terms such as holomatter, endo- and exo-causality, paral and supral , it is useful to have a glossary at the beginning of the book. These new terms have the effect of recasting more familiar thought processes in a new format. The aim of the book is to elaborate a coherent understanding of matter and the world that does not depend on a Procrustean materialistic dogma and includes endocausal psi, which makes matter into holomatter or particles holoparticles. If psi is endocausal and subjective, then 'phi' is exocausal and objective. Matter is then defined as holomatter having an active 'phi' and latent psi while 'paral' is inverse – holomatter with 'phi' latent and active psi. Various possible types of interaction (material, supral, paral) are then explained in a useful chart (p. 124). The overall result is a new quantum understanding of matter as impregnated by subtle agency emanating from a parallel world.
This leads on to a sophisticated discussion of the brain as a conscious lamp and cerebral consciousness as invisible 'paral supralé' – hence the mind is endocausal in relation to the brain, allowing for free will. He also argues that memory is essentially supral or non-local rather than purely physical, as suggested by memories associated with organ transplants. Emmanuel's model enables him to make sense of psi, OBEs and NDEs. Rather surprisingly, he claims that no one has given any evidence of survival by coming back, so we don't know if death is the end or a transition. He proposes a model of metaconsciousness, a kind of akashic record of mental engrams created during our lifetimes rather than any survival as a distinct entity. This is a position consistent with super-ESP. The book is a bold attempt to reconcile the latest findings of quantum theory with the more subtle aspects of our existence.
