John Macmurray - Selected Philosophical Writings

John Macmurray (1891-1976) was shaped by his formative experiences during the First World War and held chairs at UCL and Edinburgh. His philosophy was quite widely known 50 years ago (I have some early editions) but interest in it is only now reviving, partly due to the excellent recent biography already reviewed by Graham Dunstan Martin. His central theme of the relation between persons is consistent with the new science of consciousness. This volume, however, ranges over the whole gamut of his thought with sections on dualism, politics and religion, making it an ideal introduction.
