Information - a Very Short Introduction

Another brilliant addition to this series by the founder of the philosophy of information and drawing on the work of Claude Shannon. The concept applies at different levels to DNA, learning and most forms of communication. The various chapters cover language, mathematics, semantics, economics, ethics, biology and physics. We live increasingly in an infosphere which the author argues is becoming increasingly synchronised, delocalised and correlated. This leads in turn to an ecology of the infosphere in which we will have to work out how this common space can be preserved in what he calls a marriage of physis and techne in the 'fourth revolution' where information redefines the nature of reality.
