Guardians of the Poison Fire

This is a powerful retrospective memory, seven generations on in 2236, and informed by the work of Joanna Macy, Michael Harner and Charles Eisenstein, and imbued with a shamanic perspective in conjuring up the narrative. The poison fire of the title is nuclear waste, but we know that there is a great deal of other pollution at every level to cleanse. The co-creative imagination is key, and the essential work of spiritually awakened people is to foster and articulate a vision of love and wisdom rather than the destruction and disintegration communicated by our mass media, and which can only result in a self-fulfilling prophecy. In this narrative, we recover our knowing that we are part of a larger connected hole, of a living planet and cosmos. There is a very good summary of our various pathologies and the extractive economy that is totally dependent on electricity. The recovery of an indigenous perspective is an essential element of transformation, and readers will surely be inspired by this visionary and beautifully illustrated book. Our existential challenge is to enact the necessary transformation and regeneration.
