God and Man
Metropolitan Anthony was the most senior bishop in the Russian Church when he died last year. I remember his commanding presence, spiritual insight and humility at one of the early Mystics and Scientists conferences. In this new edition of a book first published in 1971, there are four essays and a passionate debate with atheist Marghanita Laski, which throws a good deal of light on the spiritual condition of our time. In the essay on 'Man and God', he discusses what Ian Ramsey called 'cosmic disclosure' and later on of the way in which love liberates us from the prison of the self. It is a classic text.
