Global Warming - The Complete Briefing

For those who do not already know this book (second edition 1997) it is the single best exposition of global warming and its implications by a person who has been involved at the top level for 15 years. The book is exceptionally well laid out with explanatory diagrams, boxes and charts. It covers science, history, economics and politics, showing what kind of action can be taken and projecting the picture into the future. Given the developments of the last few years, one can hope that Sir John can be persuaded to update his text for a third edition - for instance the continuing global temperature increases over the 1990s and the increasing awareness of reinsurance companies of the scale of climate-related disasters - the damage of the 1999 storm in France far exceeded that of the 1987 gales in Britain.
