ETHICS A Very Short Introduction

Another excellent book in this series by the professor of philosophy at Cambridge. Blackburn begins with seven threats to ethics - including the death of God, relativism, evolutionary theory and determinism - and unpicks the threads of these arguments in an illuminating fashion. He then considers some major ethical themes before looking at various foundations of ethics. Not every reader will share his broadly materialist position but they will surely be stimulated by the fine quality of the author's thinking.
