Essays on Swedenborg and Literature

The third volume of the Journal of the Swedenborg Society, looking at Swedenborg's extraordinary influence on literature, especially during the 19th century. Indeed my own first introduction to Swedenborg was through reading Baudelaire's poem Correspondances and subsequently finding out about his inspiration of Balzac and of course Blake. These essays consider his influence on Coleridge, Emerson, the Brownings, Whitman, Strindberg and Borges. The journal is beautifully produced and contains biographies of these figures along with extensive notes and a helpful introduction.
