Buddhism, Virtue & Environment

This book develops the relationship between the virtue ethics and environmental ethics in a Buddhist context. The authors note the revival of virtue ethics in philosophy and argue that the Buddhist virtues can be applied to the new field of environmental ethics. They also consider the development of specific environmental virtues. There are chapters of virtues and environment in western thought as well as on Buddhism and ethics and Buddhist virtues. They conclude that the Buddhist environmental ethic is both viable and plausible. They made a good case, which should encourage environmentalists to look more closely and Buddhism and Buddhists to consider the environmental implications of their philosophy.
