Artificial Consciousness

Many people will regard the term 'artificial consciousness' as an oxymoron. However, this has not deterred the editors and authors of this book, who present the state-of-the-art in the field today. Naturally, engineers are inclined to pursue mechanistic analogies, alongside which the current neuroscientific understanding of consciousness is still sitting in that consciousness is regarded as a physical output of the brain mechanism. The papers are necessarily technical, but will enable any interested reader to review a variety of positions and understand the potential development of the field.
