Have the Best Year of Your Life

A novel approach to personal transformation in the form of a 12 month journey with a short activity for each day of the year. As the author says, changing habits can take time, as does learning new things. She suggests how we can live what she calls the breadth of our lives as well as the length. Each week is divided into seven recurring themes: grow, explore, expand, receive, give, connect, commit. As with any book of this kind, it requires considerable self-discipline to stick to it, so perhaps another way of doing this would be to follow the thematic timetable but more randomly. One suggestion I liked was to leave a copy of a book you had enjoyed in a public place with a note to the Finder - under 'receive' and there are also some nice treats like going to one's favourite ice cream shop! Spread throughout the book are some provocative quotations, such as 'we don't see things as they are. We see things as we are.' Anais Nin.
