Lost Technologies of Ancient Egypt

This is a book primarily aimed at other scholars in the field, but if its thesis is correct, then it has profound implications for our understanding of the way in which pyramids were constructed and statues sculpted in ancient Egypt. The author's background in precision machining enables him to understand the technology that would have been required to produce certain effects. Although there is no physical evidence of such machinery, time would have caused it or disappear, so one can only try to infer their what would have been necessary to produce the artefacts that can be observed. Here, as in other areas, the devil is in the details, and it is these details and the associated technical precision that must be explained, in this case from effect to cause. A further interesting parallel is the precision of the principles of sacred geometry apparent in the proportions of figures such as the bust of Ramses outside the Temple of Luxor.
