How to Feel

An Ancient Guide to Minding our Emotions

As Yuval Noah Harari remarked in a recent lecture, to be conscious is to be able to suffer. In this well-constructed book, according to the Buddha, to feel is to suffer, but the practice of mindful observation can help us gain some perspective. The text consists the new translations of essential early Buddhist teachings, connecting them with modern psychology and neuroscience. The introductory comments on each section are very informative, but equally, the classic text speaks for itself.
