Reefs of Time – What Fossils Reveal about Coral Survival
Starting from the premise that corals live naturally with cyclical change, this fascinating book looks at what we can learn from the history of Coral Reeves before human influence, whereby ‘looking into the past can also help us understand what reefs need in order to have a future.’ Reefs evolve over geological timescales, and this can give us some indications of what actions we need to take – most of the fossilised reefs examined here lived about 125,000 years ago; it is a complex process of potential resilient recovery that requires interdisciplinary perspectives.
