God, The Science, The Evidence, The Dawn of a Revolution

God is said to be big business in the publishing world at the moment and this book has already become a bestseller across Europe. The aim of the book is to use; ‘science, philosophy, history and enigmas’ to argue for the existence of God. The theory of the Big Bang is seen to support the idea of a Creator God. The alternative, the ‘steady state’ theory of the universe, is presented as the typical view of Materialists (Atheists). Therefore, an immaterial Creator God, outside space and time, provides the most obvious solution to the origin of the universe.

The first part of book is an account of scientists who have been forced to contemplate the question of the origin of the universe. It has a large number of quotes from scientists, who have arrived at the conclusion that there may be a divine force behind the creation of the universe. However, most of them say that a ‘divine force’ is not the same as the personalised God of the Bible. The authors also attempt to demonstrate that the Bible is an accurate account of God’s existence. Here they use the history of the Jews and the state of Israel as evidence for God’s existence.

The book’s approach to present factual evidence to reach a certain conclusion can seem superficially convincing. But sound reasoning requires objectivity and a clear distinction between correlation and causation. Unfortunately, this rigour of deduction is missing throughout the book. In summary, the claim that science supports the idea of God is not convincing. On the contrary, it rather raises the question as to what the really motivated the production of this book.
