IMMINENT – Inside the Pentagon's Hunt for UFOs

As I write, readers will be grappling with mass recorded sighting of drones, principally in the US, but also elsewhere, speculating about their significance and origin – are some or all man-made, or do they also involve non-human intelligence and off-planet technology? According to authorities like Dr Steven Greer, this issue is complicated by secret military research reverse-engineering anti-gravity technology that may even form the basis of a false flag alien invasion designed to frighten the general public and reinforce the desired trend towards autocratic and technocratic world government. We may know more by the time you read this. This whole subject has been more on the centre of my radar since our meeting in Italy attended by four experts in this field, one of whom gave me this eye-opening book to read.

The courageous author is the former head of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), the Pentagon unit that researched UFOs, now known as unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). He has a long history in defence and intelligence, choosing to resign his position and expose himself to malicious coordinated attacks in order to inform the public about the reality of the phenomena recorded in multiple historical cultures around the world, and witnessed by countless people since the Second World War. These modern sightings have been the object of systematic obfuscation by the military–intelligence complex, ostensibly for national security reasons. The other important player in this book and its contribution to the disclosure movement is Christopher Mellon, former deputy assistance secretary of defence for intelligence and former minority staff director of the Senate Intelligence Committee. His integrity and skill in navigating the complexities of the administrative system have played a vital role.

The two men first met in 2017 at a time ‘when the UAP issue was still regarded with unremitting contempt and disdain by the mainstream press, the scientific community, and the US government.’ For uninformed people, especially those steeped in a materialistic worldview, such dismissive attitudes are still prevalent, as reported by one of our group, who was told by an Oxford educated colleague to go and see a psychiatrist. Prior to 2017, ‘many military personnel were afraid to report their observations for fear of damaging their careers and reputations.’ Such reluctance extends to paranormal experiences in general. Government debunking efforts go back as far as 1953, with multiple official statements dismissing sightings as illusions, or entirely explicable in normal terms – this amount to deliberate deception and a failure of intellectual integrity. However, the speed and manoeuverability of the craft cited were manifestly anomalous in terms of existing military capacity.

Mellon himself experienced ontological shock in coming to terms with the UAP data presented by the author: ‘My mind was churning, trying to recalculate and repair its suddenly altered map of reality.’ (p. xvii) One noticeable pattern is UAP interest in military and nuclear capabilities. Mellon argues that ‘For the intelligence community to function effectively, its leaders need to leverage rigorous analytical processes and be willing to speak unwelcome truths to those in power.’ The temptation, is to ‘go along in order to get along,’ rather than challenge the status quo, which the author has done so publicly. Due to the moral courage of a number of whistleblowers, the UAP issue has currently become visible and is being taken seriously, especially since the bill signed into law in late 2023, mandating the release into the public domain of all files connected with these phenomena. The disclosure campaign is underway.

However, the Legacy Program obfuscation campaign continues, as reported by this New Paradigm Institute press release (AARO is the successor to the unit run by the author): ‘The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), established in 2023 to investigate Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), was recently tasked by Congress with compiling a comprehensive report detailing the government's involvement in UAP issues dating back to 1945. This report, released to the public on Friday, March 8th, stated in its executive summary: “AARO found no evidence that any USG investigation, academic-sponsored research, or official review panel has confirmed that any sighting of a UAP represented extraterrestrial technology.” However, significant omissions, errors, inaccuracies, and misrepresentations have been identified by the New Paradigm Institute research team. You can read our Press Release here.’ (This incident can only remind one of Admiral Nelson putting his telescope to his blind eye during the battle of Copenhagen, and declaring that he could see no ships.)

The book gives a gripping account of the author's own journey towards an understanding of these multiple phenomena, in the course of which he comes to realise that unidentified craft with beyond next-generation technology have been observed to move in ways that defy our knowledge of physics, leading him to conclude that such craft are not made by humans, which means that humanity is in fact not the only intelligent life in the universe, nor is it the alpha species. One of his interesting projects was to focus on key observables: ‘The subject touches on everything from how UAP fly to witness accounts, medical questions, aerospace engineering, unexplained phenomena such as orbs and lights, quantum physics, and human cognitive abilities such as remote viewing.’ (p. 122) The five observables are hypersonic velocity at speeds up to Mach 17, instantaneous acceleration with immediate right-angle turns involving the generation of massive g-forces, low observability, transmedium travel, and antigravity; then there are also biological effects.

For scientists, the most interesting chapter (16) will be the explanation of these observables given by Hal Puthoff, who was also one of the key researchers in the CIA-sponsored Stargate Project investigating remote viewing and other exceptional human capacities over a 20-year period; these results have now been declassified. He initiates the briefing session by writing out a very long mathematical equation, then asking the question if the observables are all a product of a single technology whereby space and time could be warped in a localised area, creating a localised ‘bubble’ around a craft, using a phenomenal amount of energy from the quantum vacuum, whereby the frequency of light itself is changed – see explanation and diagrams on pp. 156 ff. Amazingly, under these conditions, the very shape of the craft requires flattening into a disc or saucer – as form follows function. Hal notes that if we ourselves were to master this technology, we would in all probability use it for war and destructive purposes.

The author describes the whole process whereby he decided to resign and bring his findings into the public domain at huge personal and financial risk: ‘the human race needed transparency and disclosure’ with respect to the true nature of reality: that we are not alone in the universe. (p. 175) The truth was even being concealed from presidents, and the author realised that he was likely to be subjected to a malicious campaign of allegations, questioning his integrity, mental state, performance, and role within the system (administrative terrorism, see pp. 216 ff.) – this is exactly what happened (his immediate boss was furious, remarking to a colleague, ‘We're going to nail Lue to the floor.’)

Working with Chris Mellon, they realised that they had to get Congress to pay attention; a key strategy was the involvement of the journalists Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal, leading to a major feature in the New York Times, which proved to be a watershed moment, including the release of three unclassified UAP videos. The reaction of the Pentagon was predictable, seeking to discredit the author for telling the truth (!). In Congress, he and Mellon used only credible intelligence and military officers as eye-witnesses, and the process has led us to where we are now, with much more widespread demands for transparency in the face of ongoing manifestations and continuing disinformation tactics. At least, the subject is now permissible for discussion, as is also the case with respect to other ‘anomalous’ experiences. The public now knows the essential points of what he and his group were privy to. I suspect that the overall picture will become clearer in the course of 2025, when we ourselves are planning an interdisciplinary series on the topic. In the meantime, this book can be highly recommended as an informative first-hand briefing.
