Using the Media to Protect the World's Wildlife and Ecosystems
A useful book about how to use the media to protect the world's wildlife and ecosystems. The author explores not only the role of the media in animal conservation in different countries, but also the politics of media representation surrounding controversial issues like whaling while at the same time highlighting our inconsistent attitudes towards nature in the face of species extinction. It is interesting to read about the different ways in which animals are regarded in different cultures and to see good examples of films that have promoted conservation. One paradox of the book is that it refers constantly to images without actually having any itself.
