Introducing American Religion

An exemplary and highly readable textbook on this topic covering every conceivable aspect of American religion. It begins with native American understandings as well as key elements in African tribal religions and varieties within Christianity. The approach is then historical, tracing the evolution of religious forms and practices from colonisation through the revolution, the civil war and into the late 20th century picture of pluralism. Each chapter is introduced with a summary of the main topics covered then there are summary boxes throughout the text. Chapters end with key points you need to know, discussion questions and further reading. Although Network readers will not need all this information, it does make the contents of the book easy to absorb.
