Psychology Consciousness Studies

Awakening and Insight

Zen Buddhism and Psychotherapy

This book explores the interface between Zen Buddhism and (mainly Jungian) psychotherapy, and arose from a conference in Japan. The 17 essays cover a wide field - models of the self, Jung, Christianity and Buddhism, the transformation of suffering, Buddhist psychology in modern Japan. Half the writers are from the East, which gives an extra perspective to the volume. Much of the emphasis is specialist, so the book is mainly aimed at psychotherapists with an interest in Buddhism, although it is accessible in terms of writing style.
