The Selected Letters of Bertrand Russell

A remarkable piece of scholarship by the editor, whose annotations and notes between the letters are enormously helpful in guiding the reader through the vast range of Russell's public and private concerns. 1914 marked a turning point in his political life when he became an activist, which he remained for the rest of his life. The letters trace the complexities of his love life as well as the causes that he espoused politically, for instance with Einstein in the 1950s.
