True Christianity Volume 1

This volume is the latest in a renaissance of Swedenborg scholarship and translation that sets the highest possible standards and introduces his work to a new generation. This book was Swedenborg's Summa and last work, published the year before his death in 1772. At nearly 800 pages including 100 pages of preface and introduction plus a further 100 pages of notes, this must be the definitive edition for the next 50 years. The reader is able to understand the context of both Swedenborg and his time, so that the genius of the work can be fully appreciated. It is nothing less than a new mystical theology responding to the earlier work of Luther and Calvin. I first read the work in a previous translation over 30 years ago, but this new edition makes it much more accessible and less latinised. I should also mention that the work contains numerous fascinating personal experiences along with the philosophical discourse. The book is a must for any serious student of Swedenborg.
