It is significant that a mainstream publisher has produced a textbook on parapsychology which one hopes will find its way into undergraduate psychology reading lists. There are five sections: parapsychology, paranormal cognition, paranormal action, anomalous experience and after-life associations, with twenty essays in all. These are written by authors who are well-known in the field such as Deborah Delanoy (Meta-Analyses) , John Beloff (ESP), Rupert Sheldrake (Animal Psi), Dan Benor (Healing), Stan Krippner (Shamanism). Sue Blackmore (OBEs and NDEs), Alan Gauld (Survival) and Ian Stevenson (Reincarnation). The authors describe the phenomenon and assess various competing explanations in a way that allows the reader to grapple with the issues. Each essay is followed by recommendations for introductory and advanced reading. The book can be highly recommended as an introduction to scientific parapsychology.
