Psychology and Environmental Change
A very thorough treatise on the ways in which human behaviour impinges on the environment. It sets out the many facets of our environmental problems and shows how different kinds of behaviour result in environmental change or damage (e.g. fossil fuels, burning of forests and the practice of nonsustainable agriculture). This is followed by examples of changing behaviour and possibilities of technology enhancement. Subsequent chapters are devoted to design of resource-light technologies, consumerism and the psychology of risk and prevention. This book shows the role that environmental psychology can play but without the necessary political momentum, understanding will not in itself be enough.
