by Hildur Jackson, Karen Svensson ✦ Review by David Lorimer, August 2003
This is a rich and beautifully crafted introduction to ecovillage living in all its dimensions. The book is divided into three parts - ecological, social and cultural-spiritual (itself an interesting combination). The first part covers permaculture, biodiversity local, organic food production, building, energy, infrastructure water management and green business. The social dimension includes sustainable abundance, welfare, community, lifestyle, teaching and communication. And the third moves on to consider personal unfolding, spirituality, nature, the holistic world-view and bioregionalism. Many authors contribute their reflections and experience, and the whole book has a vibrant feel that communicates a sense of hope for the future - highly recommended.
