Science Philosophy of Science

Light and Life

A very good piece of popular science writing. The author examines the close relationship between light and life, beginning with the Earth's relationship with the sun through photosynthesis. He moves on to bioluminescent creatures (but with no reference to work on biophotons) and then biorhythms dependent on light. A chapter on vision is followed by a final look at changing ideas on life and light - here he could have said much more about Goethe, although he does reference Henri Bortoft and Arthur Zajonc.
