Reflections on a Ravaged Century

A brilliant book arguing that much of the century's disasters were due not so much to the problems we had but rather the types of solution embraced – people aligning themselves with revolutionary Marxism or National Socialism in ways that overrode their humanity and led to mass exterminations in the name of rogue ideologies. The author shows why these distortions arose and became so powerful, rightly insisting that we must learn the lessons from them in order to bring about a more pragmatic civic culture. The author could have added that much of this has its roots in a masculine approach to life, which also needs to be understood, addressed and counterbalanced if a more sane future is to emerge.
