Spiritual Investments - Wall Street Wisdom

These spiritual and financial principles are drawn from Sir JohnTempleton's Wall Street career and set out the correspondence between them. Some of the principles may look obvious, but this does mean that they are easy to apply: search for quality, don't panic, learn from your mistakes, there is no free lunch. One of the most interesting is 'buy low - at the point of maximum pessimism' - people are encouraged to buy when the outlook is good but they are just following a trend. I remember the time in the City in 1975 when I passed the FT Index showing 149 - and people thought it could go lower! In retrospect that was exactly the moment to buy! The corresponding principle is that change and renewal can emerge from the low points of life.
