Another Way of Thinking
Represetnationism Unmasked
Trained both as a doctor and a painter, Cyril Forssander has written a fine book (illustrated with his paintings) 'for reading slowly'. Taking his cue from Cezanne, who sought 'to find a harmony between numerous relations', he explores 'what happens before geometry and other language games impose their scientistic certainty on the natural way of thinking'. Our intuitive processes, he argues, have largely been displaced by acquired skills such as classifying and naming'. An interesting aesthetic them running through the book is the elaboration of a 'primary reality' into a more explicit form, which is parellel to feeling experience translated into language. This may make things more concrete but at the same time something else more subtle is lost. For details of the book, contact Cyril at 18 rue Rouzig, 22700 Perros-Guirec, France.
