
Art Funkhouser
Dr. Funkhouser was born in Indiana but, from the age of 4, grew up in Oklahoma. In 1962, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in physics (optics) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Massachusetts). In 1967 he received his Masters of Science in Engineering degree from the University of Michigan. His field was coherent optics and holography. In 1979 he received his Doctor of Technical Science degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in the field of digital photography. In 1981, he received his diploma in analytical psychology from the C. G. Jung Institute, Küsnacht, Switzerland. While establishing his practice as a psychotherapist he worked as a computer programmer in the eye clinic of the Bern University hospital and contributed to several publications concerning automated perimetry in the field of ophthalmology. His academic interests include dreaming among the elderly and also déjà vu research. In addition to his private practice in Bern as a psychotherapist, he is an instructor in dreamwork at the C. G. Jung Institute and leads a monthly dream group. As a supplement to educational activities in Switzerland he has also lectured and led dreamwork workshops in Australia, England, Italy and the United States of America.
