Stargazers' Almanac 2017
This is an annual invaluable monthly guide to the stars and planets including a general chart and some basic astronomical information. The structure gives monthly guidance with items of interest and a North and South looking sky on the 15th of the month; also a guide to the phases of the moon. Additional items 2017 include an article on Charles Messier, the great French astronomer, and the Great American Eclipse of 2017 on August 21. Incidentally, there are 68 total eclipses of the sun scheduled for the 21st century. We can currently see both Mars and Saturn in the Southern sky, as I confirmed from this year's edition. This is a great guide for anyone interested in the night sky.
